The folks of Pocketnow have a very interesting piece regarding the Blue Studio 7.0, a tablet with a 7 inch screen and phone features. They were surprised to see that this tablet is easy to use with a single hand, which is a wet dream for all device makers.

An interesting part of the Blu Studio 7.0 experience is a semicircle in its lower right corner, that opens up to show a series of apps and options, that are extremely easy to press while hold the device, with the very same hand holding it. The thumb does all the work. Each area of the semicircle (there are 3 of them) is color coded and features a series of apps and functions, including media, tools, Gmail, browser and more.

I’m sure the area is customizable and in case the Blu Studio 7.0 tempts you, I must mention it’s a 1024 x 600 pixel device, with a dual core 1.3 GHz SoC, 8 GB of storage and 1 GB of RAM. The product is unlocked for use on any GSM carrier you want and obviously it doesn’t have LTE. The price tag is $150, but the fascinating part is that while some of us laugh at people using 7 inch phones, other find comfort in discovering a smart way to interact with a bigger screen… Time for gadget matur

At the very beginning of 2015, several Chinese producers like Cube or RAMOS introduced on the market tablets with Intel Core M processors, and now there’s another player in sight, more precisely PIPO. This one announced today a 11.6-inch slate called Pipo K2 that packs the same Core-M solution.

This kind of processors are based on Intel’s 14 nm production process and they offer a 60% lower thermal design point with up to 20-40% faster performance than the current-generation CPUs, and allowing very thin and fanless tablets.

Back in December, the Nexus 7 (2012) received a new factory image with the build number LRX22G, containing an update to Android 5.0.2. Now the Nexus 7 (2013) Wi-Fi and Nexus 10 are following suite, as factory images have just landed for both of these tablets.

So what’s new in Android 5.0.2? Like we saw with the Nexus 7 (2012), the update brings no noticeable user-facing changes and instead is all about introducing bug fixes meant to improve the overall stability of Android Lollipop. As XDA mentioned when the update hit for the Nexus 7 (2012), the update specifically addresses issues “with MountService which should now start before performBootDexOpt [and] changes related to NAND have also been pushed. Fstrim, introduced in Android 4.3, caused some serious issues on Lollipop… devices with slow NAND should now have a noticeable performance boost.” There’s likely a few device specific bug fixes in there as well.

Late yesterday, Chinese tech company UC Web announced that Indian users of its mobile UC Browser will be getting a special surprise: real-time Facebook notifications as they browse the web. Prior to this, Facebook has not offered real-time notifications outside of its own mobile apps, so this partnership is – according to UC Web – breaking new ground.

Users interested in taking advantage of the new feature won’t have to do much: simply download the latest update for the browser, log into your Facebook account, and you should begin enjoying instant Facebook notifications right in the browser, no matter what page you’re on.

This isn’t the first time UC has pushed to make its app more appealing to Facebook users, though. In June of last year, the company released a Facebook plugin for the app that speeds up Facebook’s loading time for users who choose to browse it within UC Browser.

UC Browser is one of the most internationally successful tech products to emerge from China in recent years. UC Web recently announced that its browser is the most popular third-party mobile browser in the world. It even ranks above first-party browsers like Chrome and Safari in key Asian markets including China and India.

To properly complement its rather successful Simple Choice postpaid plans, T-Mobile has today unveiled its newSimply Prepaid offer.

The three plans that make it up are quite similar to the carrier's old Simple Choice Prepaid options, but they're thankfully cheaper now.

For $40 each month, you'll get unlimited talk and text, and 1GB of high-speed data. $50 nets you 3GB, and for $60 you get 5GB of data, while the other unlimited perks stay the same.

You do get access to 4G LTE with Simply Prepaid, but the pretty big caveat is that by "high-speed data" T-Mobile means 8Mbps. That's the maximum you'll ever reach with these plans. And when you go over your data cap, the speed will fall down to 128kbps, which really won't be useful for much.

With Simply Prepaid, you also get access to such services as Wi-Fi calling, in-flight texting, and visual voicemail. The new plans will become available from T-Mobile on January 25.

An online retailer has spilled new photos of the upcoming ZTE Blade S6. The phone passed through TENAA back in December under the ZTE Q7 model name and resembles the look of the iPhone 6 Plus.

In addition to the single official-looking image of the phone, there are also several hands-on snaps. The phone measures 157 x 78 x 7.9mm and weighs 160 grams.

Under the hood of the ZTE Blade S6, there's a MediaTek MT6752 chipset with a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core CPU and 2GB of RAM. The phone is built around a 5.5" 720p display and runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro looks just like the newly announced Mi Note - it uses a dual-glass design with a 2.5D front and 3D rear glass. The footprint remains the same as the standard Mi Note, but the Pro version brings a better 5.7" display and more powerful innards.

Xiaomi Ni Note Pro utilizes a (Sharp/JDI) 5.7" IPS display of QHD resolution (that's 515ppi) and runs on the best Qualcomm chipset there is to date - the Snapdragon 810. It offers an octa-core processor with 4x Cortex-A57 @ 2.0GHz and 4x Cortex-A53 @1.5GHz, Adreno 430 graphics accelerator and the whooping 4GB LPDDR4 RAM.

The rest if the notable specs include LTE Cat.9 connectivity for up to 450Mbps downlink speeds and 64GB internal storage. The 13MP rear camera features a Sony IMX214 sensor, optical image stabilization and dual-tone flash, while the battery inside is a 3,090 mAh unit. There is also a front 4MP UltraPixel camera for great selfies.

The standalone sound processor ESS ES9018K2M mobile Hi-Fi Edition should improve the audio quality further with high fidelity and rich detail, while it will also provide native support for various formats such as APE, WAV, FLAC and DSD.

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop skinned with the latest MIUI launcher. The phone will launch in China at CNY 3,300 (€450) - pre-orders open on January 20, while shipping begins on January 27.

Xiaomi has finally announced its latest smartphone that it has been teasing for the past few days. TheXiaomi Mi Note is the company's latest flagship that it is using to compete against the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

The Mi Note is about the same size as the iPhone 6 Plus but has a bigger 5.7-inch 1920x1080 resolution display. The display, manufactured by Sharp/JDI, has a 95% NTSC color gamut and 1400:1 contrast ratio with adaptive dynamic contrast. There is also a reading mode that reduces short wavelength blue light that creates additional eye strain.

The sides of the Mi Note are made out of metal while both the front and back are made out of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The front has a 2.5D glass with a gentle curve around the edges and the back has what Xiaomi calls 3D glass with a more pronounced curve. The phone will be available in black and white.

The Mi Note runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with 2.5GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB RAM and 16/64GB internal memory. It also supports dual 4G SIM cards.

The Mi Note has a 13 megapixel Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor on the back with f/2.0 aperture and optical image stabilization. There is also a two-tone flash on the back. On the front is a 4 megapixel camera with 2 micron pixel size, identical to the HTC One UltraPixel camera.

The Mi Note measures 155.1x77.6x6.95mm and weighs 161g. Inside there is a Sony/LG Li-ion 3,000mAh battery. The phone will be running on the new MIUI 6 software.

The Mi Note is priced at 2299 Chinese Yuan ($371) for the 16GB model and 2799 Chinese Yuan ($451) for the 64GB model. Pre-orders open on January 20, while shipping begins on January 27.

In this video tutorial I show you how to easily flash firmware on Rikomagic V5 TV Stick with Rockchip RK3288 CPU.

1. First of all, install Rockchip driver using RK Driver Assistant v4.1. If your PC has Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, make sure to disable driver signature enforcement. If your PC has Windows 8.1 x64 bit, like in my case, follow this tutorial to easily install Rockchip driver.
2. Download Rockchip Batch Tool v1.8 from here.
3. Download latest stock firmware for Rikomagic V5 from here. (V5 FW_141215)
4. Put the device in Recovery mode. To do that use an USB cable and plug it into PC USB port first (don't connect with USB OTG now). Prepare a thin stick and press the button inside the recovery hole. Don’t loose the stick, at same time, plug the USB cable into USB OTG port of the V5, after 3-5s,loose the stick. If there will pop up a guide window asking to install new driver then go to step 1.

5. Launch Rockchip Batch Tool v1.8 and select the firmware image (Press '...' button on the first row --> FW path). If your device is in Recovery Mode then in 'Connected Device' the first position will turn into green. Press 'Restore' button and wait for 5 minutes.

Following the HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition, which received its tasty Lollipop treat last month, two more iterations of the company's flagship smartphone from last year are now in the process of gettingthe software update. These are the One (M8) Developer Edition, as well as those units that were sold unlocked, sans carrier contract.

The update will come to them over-the-air, as is customary. And as always, it may take a few days for it to make it to all devices out there, since such rollouts are usually staggered.

Nevertheless, this is good news for owners of the HTC One (M8) in these two flavors. Naturally, the carrier-customized models should follow in getting Android 5.0 Lollipop, but when that happens is probably up to each carrier from this point on. HTC has received "TA" (which stands for technical acceptance) for the update from Google, but for carrier versions those companies need to approve it too.

If you have an unlocked or Dev version One (M8), then make sure you check for updates - you might get a nice surprise. After applying the Lollipop update, you'll be running build 4.16.1540.8. The download is around 580MB in size.

Just a couple of days ago Samsung finally decided to make the Galaxy A7 fully official, and announced it for the whole world to see.

And today, the Korean company has unveiled the same phone for the Russian market. Thankfully, this means the handset now has a recommended retail price attached to it, at least for Russia. Over there it will set you back RUB 31,990, which at the current exchange rates means around $530 or €449.

The usual caveat applies here too - keep in mind that smartphone prices in Russia can be higher than elsewhere, so perhaps the Galaxy A7 will be cheaper in other markets. That said, you do pay for the premium metal design, since the specs of the device are decently midrange, but nothing to really write home about.

Russia could be the first country in the world where the Galaxy A7 will be released, but surely Samsung will follow that up by making the phone available in other places soon. White, black, and gold will be the color variations to choose from.
